The Black Farmer, creator of award-winning gluten free sausages, is adding a new special edition sausage to his range, to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding and how it highlights Britain’s diversity.
Part of The Black Farmer’s Daughter sub-brand, the celebration sausage features the founder’s mixed-race daughter, Scarlett, offering a “moreish pork sausage with a sweet kiss”. Launching in April to coincide with the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the ‘’Celebration Sausage’ marks the start of a new range of products that will be celebrating Britain’s diversity. Further flavour combinations will follow in 2018, known as the Taste of History range.
The brand’s founder, Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones is in his own words ‘a poor boy, done good’. He was born in Frankfield, Clarendon, Jamaica and then, after his parents came to the UK in the 1950s, was raised in inner city Birmingham. For a number of years Wilfred worked as a chef before pursuing a career in television. In 2000 Wilfred fulfilled a lifelong ambition to buy a small farm in Devon. This inspired him to develop and launch The Black Farmer – a name coined by his Devon neighbours.
The Celebration Sausage will be priced at £3.15. Outlet listings are still being agreed.
Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, aka The Black Farmer, said: “The marriage between Harry and Meghan is a momentous occasion for the black communities in the UK. For many black people, the wedding signifies that colour is now part of the mainstream rather than being on the sidelines.”
